From Template to Custom Cut: How We Make Glass Fit Like a Glove

When people think of glass, they usually picture something simple and square. But custom glass? That’s a whole different ballgame.
At Hallmark Glass, we specialize in custom-cut glass for showers, storefronts, and beyond — and let’s be honest: not everything in the real world is a perfect right angle. Whether your space is old, modern, or somewhere in between, we make glass fit like it was made just for it. Because it is.
Step 1: On-Site Measurements (No Guesswork Allowed)
Every custom glass project starts with a precise on-site measurement. No “eyeballing it,” no online forms with bad guesses — we send an experienced tech to your space to map out the dimensions exactly.
For things like frameless showers, even the smallest error can throw off the whole look or leave gaps. We measure to the nearest fraction of an inch using laser tools, templates, and real-world experience.
Step 2: Template & Design
If your project has curves, cutouts, angles, or slopes (and many do!), we’ll create a template — usually out of cardboard, paper, or digital design files. This ensures your glass will fit precisely, especially around tricky spots like:
Sloped ceilings
Uneven tile walls
Shower benches or pony walls
Electrical boxes or hardware on storefronts
This is what separates cookie-cutter installs from clean, custom perfection.
Step 3: Cut, Polish & Temper
Your custom design goes to our trusted fabrication partners where the glass is cut to size, edges polished, and then tempered for safety. (Tempered glass is 4–5 times stronger than regular and breaks into tiny pieces instead of sharp shards.)
For showers, we often use ½” or ⅜” thick glass — the good stuff that stays solid and luxe-feeling for years. Storefronts usually get insulated or laminated glass, depending on energy and security needs.
Step 4: Hardware & Fitting
Next, we prepare your hinges, clips, handles, and seals. You’ll get to pick finishes like:
Brushed nickel
Matte black
Chrome
Oil-rubbed bronze
We match your style — modern, industrial, rustic, you name it.
Step 5: Installation Day
Once everything’s ready, our crew installs your custom glass with care, cleanliness, and efficiency. For a standard frameless shower door install, most jobs are done in just a couple of hours. Storefronts and larger projects may take a day or two, but our team works fast and clean.
We also seal and test everything before we leave, so it looks perfect and functions like a dream.
Bonus: Aftercare Tips
We’ll walk you through how to clean and care for your new glass. For showers, that might mean using a daily squeegee or asking us about protective glass coatings. For storefronts, we’ll show you how to keep seals fresh and panes spotless.
